Organiser UTRUJJ FOUNDATION
Venue Sir Alexander Fleming Building
Imperial College-
London  SW7 2AZ
United Kingdom
Date & Time Saturday,   5  July  2008
Start time: 10AM  End time: 5PM
Description Effective communication is one of the most important skills that families can develop. The purpose of this learning experience is for students to create a kit that promotes healthy, effective communication among family members. The skill of communicating effectively is essential not only in families, but in everyday relationships as well. The simple design of the kit allows for people of all ages to develop their communication skills. In the process of creating the kit, students uncover the roles and responsibilities of a parent in the development of effective communication within a family. Effective means of establishing good communication in a family is to always display a willingness to listen. Being attentive and not interrupting when a spouse or child talks about his or her thoughts, ideas and feelings tells the person that what is being said is of value and interest to you. Children, particularly, develop a sense of self worth and trust when a parent takes the time to pay attention to their words. However, with the growing busy lifestyles, do families take the time to communicate with each other in order to establish the most lasting and fruitful relationships. Join us on this course to find out useful techniques, ideas and methods to improve communication and obtain the right skills from an Islamic perspective.
