|Biographical detail : ||The founder of the Naqshbandi order.
Bahauddin went to Samarqand and then to Bukhara where he got married. During his travels he encountered a Turkish called Khalil, who eventually became Sultan Khalil of Trans Oxiana in 1340. After Khalil's fall in 1347, Bahauddin experienced a revulsion against worldly success, and he returned to his village and resumed his spiritual career.
He gathered around himself like-minded devotees. Bahauddin's mausoleum erected in 1544 by Amir Abdul Aziz, near Bukhara, became one of the most important places in central Asia. Naqshandi order spread to Anatolia, Kurdistan and India.
Naqshbandi was born at Kushk Hinduwan (a village new Bukhara), and he learnt Sufism from Muhammad Baba al Sammari, who appointed him his Khalifa at his deathbed.
