He was born in Sidon. A nationalist from the start of his political life. He held several important ministerial positions. Osseiran represented Lebanon at the UN to vote against the Palestinian partition plan. He demanded “armed resistance” against Israel’s occupation of Lebanon at the Geneva conference just as he had, at the start of his career, demanded an end to French occupation of Lebanon.
Osseiran believed in “Arab identity” and admired Nasser’s personality.
