Maulana Yusuf spent his life in Burma, (the country got independence from Britain in 1948 and was renamed Myanmar), in the field of education and provided moral and spiritual leadership to Burmese Muslims during a long and difficult times.
Maulana Yusuf was among the first of the constituent members of Rabita al-Alam al-Islami (Muslim World League), set up in 1964, in Makkah, bringing together leading scholars, thinkers and public figures from all over the Muslim world.
Maulana, in Burma, headed the Central Darul Ifta as Grand Mufti, presided over Jami’at ul-Ulama, was secretary general of Jami’a Dar al’Uloom and served on various mosque trusts.
Muhammad Daud Yusuf was born in Yangon formerly known as Rangoon.
