Moved to Lahore at a very early age young Daud lived his entire life there. He did his Munshi Fazil in 1921 and Adeeb Fazil in 1922 (degrees in Arabic and Persian) from Oriental College, Lahore.
Nagma-e-Haram, Akhtaristan, Lala-e-Toor, etc., were some of his collections of Akhtar Shirani, a poet of repute.
Born Muhammad Daud Khan, at Tonak, of Afghan breed Akhtar Shirani was son of a well-known critic and historian, Muhammad Khan Shirani.
