His father, Shaikh Khazal ibn Jaber, until 1925, was the ruler of Muhammarah and Arabistan (now Khuzestan) in southern Persia (now Iran). In the 1960s he set up a trading company to pursue his business activities. He also acted as his family's lawyer and representative in establishing a claim on the part of his father's estate still held by the Imperial and Shanghai Bank, and the remainder of his father's British oil shares.
He died in Tehran.
