|Biographical detail : || A Shafi`ite theologian and philosopher born at Rai.
After studying at his native place he went to Khwarizam, Bukhara, Samarqand, Ghazana and Punjab, India but ultimately settled in Herat.
He authored Sharh al Isharat, a commentary to Ibn Sina and al Mabahis al Mashriqiya, Kitab Muhassal Afkar al Mutaqadamin Wa'1 Mutakhirin and a commentary on the Qur’an called Mafatih al Ghaib also called al Tafsir al Kabir. This was an answer to the Mutazilite exegesis Kashaf of Zamakhshari. His other writings were the Manaqib al Imam Shafi'i, his autobiography Munazarat Al Allama Fakhir Al Din and several works on Fiqah, Rhetoric’s and encyclopaedia.
He was also an excellent preacher. He attracted many disciples there, but also enemies who poisoned him.
