Laying down the environment law, Habiba Sarabi, the Governor of the province of Bamiyan, Afghanistan, is determined to reverse the damage suffered by the province and to turn the place into Afghanistan’s icon of environmental oasis.
Trying to preserve the environment and natural resources Dr Sarabi, a haematologist, politician and reformer, is establishing Afghanistan’s first national park. The 570 sq km encompasses a cascading series of six brilliantly hued lakes and naturally carved limestone fortresses that is awe-inspiring magnificence.
Dr Sarabi has inspired local communities to join her environmental campaign and together they decide on policy and plan education projects.
