|Biographical detail : ||An Indian musician.
Sarod player and undoubtedly one of India’s greatest musicians, Amjad Ali Khan is also exponent of a tradition that dates back to medieval times.
Khan’s instrument is the sarod, a short-necked lute descended from the Afghanrabab. Though his family goes back to six generations he is no prisoner to tradition. He composes his own raags and seeks out western musicians for collaboration.
