A journalist, writer and poet Maulana Mihr joined the newspaper; Zamindar in 1922, later resigned and started his own paper Inqlab in 1927.
Maulana Mihr wrote Ghalib in 1936, a biography of Urdu poet Ghalib. His interest in Indiaís freedom movement is revealed when he authored the biography of Syed Ahmad Shaheed, which was published in 1952. He also wrote two books on war of independence, on cetenary of the said war in 1957, named, "1857" and "1857 ke Mujahid".
Authored about fifty books among them were Sharh Bange Dara, Sharh e Bal Jibrail, Sherh Zarbs Kalim and Encyclopaedia Tarikh e Aalam a translation of William L Langerís Encyclopaedia of World History, and his last book "Rasool-e-Rehmat" was published in 1971.
Well versed in Urdu, Persian, Arabic and English, Maulana Mihr who widely travelled abroad was born into landlord family in a village, Phoolpur, in Jalandhar.
