6 September 2024 Launch of Visit My Mosque Day

The London Central Mosque & Islamic Cultural Centre, Regents Park, hosted the launch of the Muslim Council of Britain’s 9th annual Visit My Mosque day. In his welcoming address, Dr Ahmad Al-Dubayan, the Centre’s Director General, noted that the theme selected this year, ‘Building Bridges’ was important because it will enable direct contact and establish trust and understanding. This was reiterated by Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of the MCB, who reflected on the show of solidarity from across society to confront the messages of hate.

During the Covid crisis, several mosques served as vaccination pop-up clinics, opening its doors for all. At one mosque, over a third of those availing the service belonged to other faiths. It was an example of how places of worship serve to bring communities together – and there are many such stories to be shared and celebrated.
