6 September 2025 Gaza demo hears from Corbyn about Tribunal

Middle England again turned out in its hundreds of thousands in a show of solidarity with Gaza’s population facing the Israeli genocide. Jeremy Corbyn, in a powerful address from outside Downing Street, referred to many of the witness statements that were made at the two-day independent ‘Gaza tribunal ‘ recently concluded in London: surgeon Victoria Rose’s description of children crying out in pain post-operatively because there were no painkillers – “not even Paracetamol”; the courage of Mark Smith of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, who refused to ‘dumb down’ reports on the horrors in Gaza, and resigned to keep his integrity; the evidence from Matt Kennard on bases in Cyprus, used by the RAF aircraft circling Gaza allegedly to share information in real time with the Israel Defense Force. Among other speakers was Dr Ismail Patel, who noted that while many countries in Europe were waking up to the genocide and stopping arms and related military support to Israel, “Prime Minister Starmer was moving in the opposite direction.”

It is reported [The Guardian, 6 September 2025] that numerous arrests were made demonstrators opposing the recent contested proscription of a Palestine-supporting direct action campaigning group.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign is planning protests over the visit of Israel’s president Isaac Herzog due in London shortly.
